I have been working on putting in our vegetable garden and doing things outside. The weather has been pretty and it's hard to stay inside. I've been painting a set of rockers that are on the front porch. They looked really bad as all the white had chipped off. I decided they needed a little color. Next is repainting the shutters on the house.

Snow Dyeing Again
We've had enough snow to do some snow dyeing again. This time I'm trying to dye some canvas. I'm not sure how well it will take the color. I guess I'll find out tomorrow.

Working on a new website
Sorry everyone! I know it's been a long time since I have been on here. I have had a really busy November. I am trying to build a new web store. Trying is the key word there. Nothing seems to be going right. I have had trouble at every turn. To top it all off, my daughter had a major surgery and my mother-in-law had to go by ambulance to the hospital. Both were on the same day and in two different towns. It was a blessing that my firefighter/EMT husband was at home that day. I took my daughter for her surgery and the hubby went with his mom. Both are home and recovering, but it was a crazy time.
I thank you for sticking in there with me. I promise a nice Grand Opening Sale.
'Til then shop my Etsy shop!

Today is My Day for the Pincushion Blog Hop
Well today is my day. I guess my pincushion is better fitted to the Wicked Blog Hop. I want to thank Kristen and Madam Samm for hosting the hop. It has been fun.
I have Halloween on the brain and I love to watch The Walking Dead so I decided to use a piece of my snow dyed fabric for my pincushion. I cut a rectangle, sewed together the short ends.
Then I ran a gathering stitch around each end and gathered one end tight, then sewed it shut.
I then added rice to the bottom and polyfil to the top half and gathered tight and sewed shut.
And now you get to meet my creation.
Meet Griswald my zombie friend.
Hope you enjoy the rest of the blog hop! Please be sure to check all the other great creations from all the other bloggers today. Now a Giveaway! If you sign up to follow my blog please leave me a comment telling me you follow and for another chance to win leave me a comment telling what your favorite pattern is in my etsy store.
Don't forget to check out the other bloggers.

Snow Dyed Fat Quarters
Sorry I haven't posted lately. August is always a busy time of year for me. I have 2 children with birthdays 2 days apart in August. My daughter Rachel's birthday is the 15th and my son Josh's is the 17th. We always celebrate them together. When they were little, I always made sure they each had their own cake. I have some wonderful children and I have been blessed with 2 others that I have helped raise from a young age. In all, I have 3 beautiful and special daughters and a handsome talented son. They each have their own special gifts and I love them all dearly.
Well enough of that--sorry I got carried away there. Get to the quilt stuff. I have been washing & ironing lots of my old stash fabrics. You will be seeing some of those starting to pop up on my Etsy site soon. I have added some snow dyed or hand dyed fat quarters there already. I will be working to get them up on bearhollowquilts.com as well.
My cat Diz--short for Dizaster was picking her favorite.
Yes you will probably get a few cat hairs with your fabric. She is my sewing buddy and she's sooo cute.
"No please don't make me get out of the scrap basket".
Okay I need to get serious here.
A preview of some of the snow dyed fat quarters.
I like the little guy with the mustache in this one.
Some of these might end up in my pin cushion.

I tried Sun Dyeing
Hi everyone. Sorry I've not posted in awhile. We went out of town to one of my favorite places--the North Shore of Lake Superior. I just love it there, not to mention it's much cooler! What a beautiful place.
Ok enough of that. I could go on forever about the north shore.
I tried my hand at sun dyeing. I gathered up a few items.
I added some water to small bowls and added paint to them. I then brushed this on wet fabric. I added some fern leaves and regular leaves (all silk leaves I bought at Michael's). I laid them around on the wet fabric and placed a piece of Plexiglas over the top so the leaves wouldn't blow off. It's always windy at my house. You should have seen me trying to keep them all down and chasing them around when they blew off the table.
I left them in the sun for a couple of hours then took off the leaves.
They didn't turn out as well as I had hoped but they were drying fast because it was so hot.
I'll give it another chance. It was fun!
Keep Stitching,
Sandy

Happy 4th of July
Hi everyone. I hope everyone will be safe today but have fun. We had our celebration last night. My firefighter husband has to work today. I hope he's not too busy today!
I have been working on some civil war clothing lately. I make confederate guerrilla shirts like the one Jesse James is wearing in one of his famous pictures. What do you think?
Have a safe and happy 4th!
Sandy
